“Adapt to Eat uses photography to capture the current, evolving situations of indigenous communities as they react to changing environments and climates. The project aims to present these situations, and the research with which it is founded on, to a diverse range of audiences with the intent of education and sensitization.”

"As a photographer, I rarely take portraits of myself. However, all the images I make and present coalesce to form a self portrait. It is through this collection of experiences that I come to understand myself and how I operate in the world. In reflecting on this project, it feels as if it isn't my story to tell. That is, someone who lives far removed from the climate impacts that both the Shawi and Batwa face daily. Having been given the opportunity, I made these photo essays with love and attempted to form as real relationships as possible with those portrayed, following a code of ethics that holds up to my current values. And so, it feels right to keep this website alive, despite a mismatch of storyteller and story. I add this updated introduction to further acknowledge my perspective in presenting these stories, what I am proud of and where I think the project is limited. Knowing all this, I hope you enjoy learning about the amazing lives of people and how they continue to change under the pressures of climate change."
